Question How to open my Intellimouse Optical 1.1, please?

My mouse keeps clicking intermittently when I hold the mouse button down, as though not making a good connection, so I'd like to open it up and give it a clean. However, I can see no way to get into this thing, so does anyone else know? It's a pretty common old MS Intellimouse Optical 1.1. There might be screws behind the mouse pads, but the red plastic is too translucent to realy see. It's pretty old and has had a good innings, but I'm pretty strapped for cash and so don't want to shell out if all it needs is a clean.

Any help with getting into this thing would be hugely appreciated.

Behind the two bottom pads: you'll need a small Philips head screwdriver for it. The front bit is held in by a little clip so just lift up and push forward

Hang on: too translucent to see? that's a new one

Thanks Omar! Yep, I had to remove the large transparent sticker to see the two screw shafts (I also thought there might be just one screw underneath the large sticker, but no). I've made a pig's ear of the gliders though in trying to remove them (not so smooth gliding now, heh) and there's now a large area of ultra-stickiness underneath the label, which iso alcohol can't remove.

Plus it appears the double clickiness has remained, despite a good clean - I think it's just worn out over the years. It must be about fours years old or something, with constant use. Very well built though.

Lol, common problem with cleaning Intellimice. I have some teflon pads (thin but useful) you can have if it'll help your mouse glide: just let me know and I'll pop them in an envelope to you

Thanks for the kind offer Omar, but I've just bought an MX310 instead, as the click issue remained. I've cleaned my old mouse up though - finally managed to get the sticky stuff off using the spray you use to remove tar and bugs from cars! Nail polish remover and iso alcohol wasn't strong enough. I've smoothed the rough edge of the pads too so they're not so bad now - good enough for a standby mouse. Cheers again for the help.
