    Angry Shuttle sound problem

I finally got my Suttle back from being repaired ( unrelated fault - ati2dvag BSOD ), which involved swapping out the mobo.

I plugged it all up, installed XP back on and I don't have any sound from the onboard soundcard.

    I've tried:

Checked soundcard is in 'Auto' mode in BIOS
Two sets of nForce drivers from nVidia
Two sets of Realtek drivers from the Realtek site
I've tried the front mounted headphone socket, just incase the rear is b0rked.

Still utter silence from my speakers

If I plug in my Skype USB handset, I can get sound from that, so it's 99.9% likely to be a hardware problem.

Before I send it back for repair again, is there anything I can try to get it working ?

I don't have a spare soundcard handy and my spare PCI slot is being used for a USB card.

    Any suggestions greatfully received.

I suppose you have checked your volume control setting in XP to see if they are not muted?

this may sound stupid but i nearly had the EXACT same problem, the ports on the front connect via a cable thing that black and rectangular, near the front of the board, if it isnt plugged in the front AND!! the back ones dont work, just check, it may be that simple

    It worked.

The cable was connected, but obviously needed a little push to seat correctly.

Thanks for that, you've just saved me six weeks sitting in silence
