    key boards cut out!

    hello!

    ok, well i have just made my pc, but when im installing xp the key board dies for some reason it hasnt happened once, quite a few times, and its not the keyboard because its happened on two seperate ones...

    if you can help thank you!!!

    Is it just a standard Keyboad or usb type?

    thanks anyway, got it sorted i was using usb, then i got my thrid keyboard(which is standard) and it done the shiz...

    all done and dusted.

    With USB you have issues like the PC being able to turn it off to save power, or the USB port you're using not getting enough power, either of which could 'lose' the keyboard.
    I'd tend to recommend that unless you have a particular reason to use a USB keyboard, that it's better to get a standard PS/2 one for reliability (or a USB one with an included PS/2 adaptor if you want the option later on).
    Most motherboards support USB keyboards in the BIOS now, but if you have problems with your system stability and need to disable all the non-essential components, then you'll have problems if your keyboards on USB, too.
    Glad you've got a solution though.

    thanks for the extra info and all!

    i dont think its because of the power, its a new computer and the psu is more then its supposed to be... btw i have 10 usb slots...
