    Wierd PC Problem

I have a strange (atleast to me) problem on my machine justnow.

At seemingly random intervals the machine will totally freeze, and the PC's own speaker will beep - and then the screen goes black, forcing me to reset it.

I've done all the usual Antivirus/Antispyware scans and am running them again just to make sure im clean.

    Any idea whats up?

    cheers,
    David

OK, now there are a few things which it could be:-

    1) A faulty Power supply unit
    2) Overheating processor
    3) A power surge
    4) Bad memory
    5) a faulty motherboard
    6) A software conflict
    7) A hardware conflict
    8) About a hundred other things.

Now you don't say which operating system you are using, but if it's Windows XP, if I were you, I would first of all DISABLE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM RESTART ON ERROR which by default on Windows XP is enabled.

Hopefully once this is done you will be able to get a Blue error screen up BEFORE you need to press the reset button, and the text on that error screen will tell you what caused the error.

If you don't get a blue screen telling you what's wrong then you've got a long old job tracking down the problem.
