Network connxion keeps dropping!

Hi,

I have a friend who is using a ZOOM 54G wireless router, his main pc is wired, laptop is wireless. Problem is the wired network connection keeps dropping randomly. The whole connection is lost, i.e even the active connection icon in the taskbar disappears. I have looked at everything I can think of, nic configuration etc and still cannot solve it.

Ideas anyone?

have you tried a different cable? How about a different port on the router? If you wire up the laptop, do you experience the same problem with the same wires and port?

You say the icon disappears...Is it configured to disappear when it loses connection? if not then if it is a pci card it may have become loose and windows stops recognises it as a network card, random, but just a suggestion.
