XP not booting after new partition made...

    Ok, here's what's happened:

created a new 15GB partition on my 200GB drive (NTFS with my xp installation) using partition magic, ready for some linux lovin'. Rebooted, let PM do it's thaing, rebooted... then windows wouldn't boot

It gets to the loading screen with the windows logo for a second or so then blue screens and restarts :'(

    Any ideas?

I've booted knoppix from CD, it doesn't see the NTFS partition; but when I boot PM it does see the partition AND the data.

I don't mind re-installing windows, but I could do with my data!

    Ta.

oh i remember all the headaches from doing exactly the same thing, i think PM may have set the windows partition to 'inactive' or 'hidden', if you can get access to another HDD with windows on it, install PM on that and you should be able to sort it, if not, try installin XP on over the linux one just to rescue data then try again.

its a real pain trying linux lol

I tried that, but XP tells me it's not formatted :'(

I've tried a few data recovery apps but got nowhere with them, so it's looking like it's gonna have to be formatted first

I've got a 200GB SATA (which has my windows installation on it)

    And a 120GB IDE.

I tried to partition the 200GB one...
