    Windows XP Welcome Screen

    Hi,

I've just added a Windows XP machine to a domain and was wondering if it is possible to use the Welcome Screen to login instead of the Login Box. Does anyone know anything about this?

    Cheers

No you can't, as soon as you're on a domain it's bye-bye welcome screen

All the better, the Welcome screen is horrible.

There's a reason for this, if a machine is on an Active Directory Domain, it simpily wouldn't be feasable to contact the domain controller, retreive a list of 20,000+ usernames, and display them on the welcome screen, other than being insecure, its impractical as well.

Yeah you got a point there. Now all I've got to do is persuade the teachers in that school that the extra hassle for the kids is worth it.

    Cheers for the quick replies.
