Having just upgraded my case and graphics cooler, I'm hearing my PC in a whole different way. However, one thing is puzzling me. There's a high pitched whine being emitted from in there, and the only thing I could think of is the Raptor.
I knew these drives were noisy (and they are) on load, but I'm not sure a constant "eeeeeeeeeeeeee" is right... could it be faulty?
EDIT: It turned out to be the front Akasa Amber making the noise so I'm gonna take it back to Scan tomorrow.

Did you get the Akasa swapped in the end?
It is supposed to be a quiet fan but I've heard Nexus have some of the best quality control.
Did some investigating and it turned out not to be the fan but the air flow through the front vents of my Akasa Eclipse. The fan itself it lovely and quiet.
Air flow resistance shouldn't manifest as a high pitched whine. Maybe the restistance caused the fan motor to whine...
We took the fan off the case and left it resting while plugged in, t'was fine. It's a bit weird...
turbulence chap. the position you chose for it was causing the noise. Try putting it somewhere else.

nope, the fan! Unless you have the fan blowing over the hdd.
From what I can see, you got a whistling noise form the fan being in the front port of your case.

mmmmm, I have the eclipse with 3 120mm akasa ambers, one front, one rear and one on the evo120 hsf and I have to say it is one of the quietest systems I have ever run, and I build alot. I have since added the akasa allinone which controls the fan rpm but even before this it was not a noisey beast. I used to have a trcolour akasa 120mm fan in the front which sounded like a freakin jet engine, the ambers are some of the best fans I have seen
Note - Im not an akasa fanboy, I have other systems which have no akasa kit in, just luk of the draw

Aye I've got it all sorted now, two Ambers and the Evo33 HSF with the fan controller in the Eclipse's front panel PCI slot, wonderful setup!
I'm also pondering over the Akasa PaxMate II soundproofing kit but I'm not sure if I want to taint my lovely new case just yet.
It doesn't taint your case, well, unless you muck it up and remove it - then you get the glue residue (easily taken care of)
I would strongly advice against the paxmate, why... cos it stinks, no honest m8, I put it in a case years ago and when it warms up it really mings, plus from my ears and those from many reviews the change was negigable, tbh with the ambers on a fan control u should be fine
dunno what you are doing to yours, but mine smelt at first when it came out of the packet, haven't noticed anything since. It wasn't exactly unpleasant then either....
