    New Hard Drive suggestions

    Hey peeps

    righty ho....

In the past few days my HDD has been playing up with unrecoverable problems to random crashes and corrupted formated DVD's-so i decided to try a Hard drive utiltiy to fully test my hdd.

My hard drive is a Maxtor Diamond+ 10 240GB 7200RPM, i used PowerMax to test the HDD-it gave me a diagnostic code for RMA- but seems as though this HDD is a result of a RMA before i got this drive [Original HDD= Maxtor Diamond+ 9 160GB]- i think my Warranty has ranout....

Due to this, i'm askin for Suggestions for a New HDD thats NOT Maxtor because all i get is trouble with their HDD's

    the Specs i want is...

= SATA for deffo [since that it can benefit me as a gamer]
= around 200GB of space [Will split for 2 Partitions]
=No Maxtor Drives Please [due to past problems]

    Cheers peeps

Always used Seagates in the past - Baracuda 4, 7 & 8. Not keen on their 9 series (the 7200.9) due to some of the problems many have posted, and also the fact they are reported to be noisier. So, I just bought a Samsung SATA II 200Gb for my new build - nice quiet drive, good performance too.

Three year warranty is a must. Just had a Samsung spinpoint fail after two years and two months. Checked the warranty online - three years. Sent the old drive off Monday and had a replacement drive by Friday.
All my other drives that failed did so after there warranty period of between 1 and 2 years.
Hard drives always fail in the end but I would expect (hope) to get at least three years use out of them.
