    Windows MCE Help

    Hey,

I've got an Athlon XP 1900 setup using Windows MCE. It has been working fine the last couple of weeks, but in the last two days, it has started to crash whenever Media Center is started. It gets to the splash screen, and then the picture just goes black, and the pc stops responding.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I know media centre puts a load on the graphics card when it starts up (I had it running with a Radeon 7500), are the temps alright on that?

I've got a Radeon 9200 which is passively cooled. The heatsink is quite warm to the touch.

can you say if you're running mce on a tv? I had a similar problem. I think it can occur if you control the size of the tv output using catalyst, and make it fill the screen, but if you tell mce you're displaying on a tv, it uses overscan, and reduces the size of the main section of the screen, so you can still see everything. If you have already made the screen bigger, tell mce you're displaying on a monitor using a vga cable, and it won't use overscan, and you should be fine.

If not, try setting up another user profile, and running mce on the tv screen again. This also cured the problem for me.

    Hope this helps.
