well the cd i tried is the REAL one, how can i install windows from thsi pc i got now, the chipset is differnt so it will corrupt afaik?
i tried one of my blank 250gb samsungs to install widnows on but still no luck... im running out of ideas
have you tried another cd/dvd-rom drive or tried connecting it on another ide channel - sometimes the disk wont read properly because of the drive being old or incompatible/unbalanced or anything like that - worth trying another drive.
Matt
if u have another drive there is no harm in trying it, i found that only one of my CD drives worked.

I have had this on a number of occasions when o'clocking and bios has rebooted, go into your bios and ensure the boot order reads HD with windows install first - that is if you have installed windows.
tbhm this happened to me and i gave up and changed hard drive, there any chance it cud be bust?

It's such a common error, I wouldn't give up on it yet...there's just a fair few solutions.
To be clear:
You haven't managed to install Windows yet?
You've formatted the hard drive? If so how?
It is the original XP installation disc.
The boot order is definitely set to CD first?
You've updated your BIOS to the latest version?
lol ive got the patience of a not very patient person! im sur eull fix it

well i aint got no pateince! i so wanetd to see what AMD processors are like against the high clock of P4.. any way fatal:
cant install windows as it coems up when it says 'click anykey to boot from CD'
i formatted via windows XP, on this computer
yes it is the real Xp disc
cd first idd...
i havent updated the bios, but if some1 tells me how then ofcourse i will do it
im now going to reset the bios/cmos and see if itll boot now :/
Can you turn off the floppy in the bios
Turn off - boot up floppy seek
Looking at your screenshot you have the hard drive on channel 2 and your cd drive on channel 1 so have you tried reversing this configuration as if not then this could be your problem.
Floppy disc fail is because it's not enabled in bios.
edit: reading between the lines have you enabled to read cd first in the bios and not physically by changing the cables over?
