OC'ing my AMD64 3700+ san diego (Idiots guide!)

I would be greatly appreciative if someone would take the time out and help me to OC my AMD. I have no formal OC'ing skills at all and feel that if i start messing with the bios im going to bugger something up!

As i stated im a bit of an idiot when it comes to techy stuff for pc's and i spend far too much time playing damn games lol!

So basically if someone can point me in the right direction of what i need to change in the bios i would be be greatly appreciated, thx in advance !

Gone into the bios and im met with this:

    Processor maxium multiplier [x11 2200MHz]
    Processor maxium voltage [1.450v]

    those above are greyed out

    Multiplier/voltage change [manual]
    Processor multiplier [x4 800MHz]
    Processor voltage [0.800v]

Right i think i know what im doing now lmao!! just realised after typing that out, jesus!

p.s. my max voltage only goes up to 1.450??

it shouldnt mate, but tbh i dont know about those boards. U need to put it to user define or manual to alow u to change the Processor voltage. Im getting more luck putting the mulitplier down to 10 and upping the HTT, start with 250 or something

yes, very limited voltage adjustments on the Asrock.

Best Asrock overclocking community that I know of is http://www.ocworkbench.com/ocwb/ulti.../forum/30.html.
Lots of info there & they should be able to help you out.

    Yeah cheers guys.

Yea ive already been over to 3d, lovely bunch of lads and they have provided me with info etc.

My main concern is when im gaming, playing CSS or BF2 im getting stuttery and laggy gameplay. Ive just been on CSS and my fps were around 75 with it going down to 25 in intense firefights, but ive also seen it drop to that even though theres not much going on?
With BF its the same type of lag where the gameplay again feels all stuttery and not smooth.

What is the avenue i need to go down to erradicate this problem? That's why im trying to OC the cpu to get more omph out of my pc and to get rid of this bloody lag lol!

erm, what drivers u using mate? Have u tried the omegas. I recommend the Omega 5.11 from www.omegadrivers.net. They are the best for our genration type of cards. My 3700 is running at 2.6 at the mo and u do see a noticable difference in fps stability. Have u managed to clock it at all yet?

Think this asrock board is gonna be the killer with the voltage not going over 1.450.

    brb then

oops using the latest ati drivers

Did a stess test on CSS with ati drivers i already have on and the fps were 84.39.

ur pc is a similar setup to mine apart from my card is a snadge better. Lemme jsut do a stress test. Do it with everything on full apart from colour corection. and vsync, and type fps_max 500 in console
