    dvi cable

i have a hannsg HW191D. It has a VGA and a DVI output on the back. I have an Xbox360, and currently i have my pc connected to the vga input.

    I just bought this cable

    h**p://i15.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/81/97/4d4f_1_b.JPG

its the only cable that fits the DVI port in my monitor, so it has to be the right one doesnt it???? because when i take my pc out of the vga, and put this cable in my graphics card, then to the dvi input on my monitor and switch the signal from analouge to digital, all i get is a black screen. this is doing my head in now, and i have bought all dvi connectrs etc and nothing works, what am i doing wrong?!?!?!?!?!?

Yes, that is the right cable for it.

What you might have to do is set it to it's native resolution first, then uninstall the monitor, then switch pc off, change cable over then switch on and install monitor driver, you will also have to make sure that the cable is fully in.

Or do you mean black screen as soon as you switch the pc on or black screen when you get to windows

edit: opps forgot to look at other post first.

A lot of cards will want the cable in at POST. So much so, that i cant even get a signal to my second monitor if i plug it in after bootup

Is it S-video / Composite ? If so and IIRC, there is a setting within the nv control panel to always force output. Not sure about ATi though.
