HELP!!! NTLDR is missing

went for the format option. Brand new windows pro cd, gets half way through. Then missing some i848 . dll file, managed to ignore it and carry on. Now windows looks like 98 and half the files are msising.

Its a pity you couldnt get it sorted mate, th eonly reason i still have a floppy drive is cos I have rescue disks for exactly this purpose.

On th eplus side you have gleaned some useful knowledge and if you know someone with a floppy drive, and want to settle your curiosity, copy the 3 files I mentioned to it from the machine and then delete any one one of them, boot from floppy and it will load. Then again you might not be that curious.

Good luck with your pc whichever route you take and hope it all gets sorted.

Just wish you lived close by so I could sort it out as these things tend to bug me a little.

A floppy drive is £5, so why not have one installed or connect up for emergency outside your computer.

The i848 file sounds like the Intel graphics driver, have you got integrated video on the motherboard? If XP is now running you could try sfc /scannow (from cmd) which should scan XP for missing system files and then prompt you for the location of any missing files.
