    Quicktime Download

I want to upgrade my current version of Quicktime (v6) to the new one v7.1.3. Are there any real benefits in downloading the new version, or is it a case of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'?

You could also try ditching Apples QuickTime completely and have a go with QTAlternative. Allows you to play QT movies in WMP and any other DirectShow media player

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm

RealAlternative from the same source is also good. Those combined with ffdshow should let you play virtually any video inside WMP.

when did the alternatives packages start including directshow wrappers?

they always used to use 'media player classic', which is an open-source player capable of using the non-directshow qt/rm codecs

I actually thought they always had a Dshow wrapper

But then i haven't been using them for that long and always use MPClassic anyway
