    Updating Half-Life 2

Is there anyway to make Steam reload all Half Life 2 files without actually deleting and reinstalling the game? I want to see if this will solve the "memory could not be read" errors I've been getting when I try to load saved games.

how exactly is it meant to reload the files without reloading the files?

if you want to force a re-download, delete all the .gcf files in steam/steamapps

I managed to get Steam to do a full update, but I'm still having the same problem. I can access different chapters having completed the game, but even clicking on "load game" crashes the whole program. This only happens with HL2, not the other Steam games I have.
