Up to 712MB? wow!
Any idea how much it actually needed to download for your update?
It depends entirely on how many updates you have installed prior to that. Last time I tried it through the batch file method it was around 110mb.
I'm running SP1 now and I'm happy with it. Only had a single problem with Vista x64 pre-SP1 anyway (Sony Vegas 7's media manager stumbling over, somewhat ironically, on MS's MSDE), so wasn't expecting any issues though.
I'm now watching it install. Typing from my laptop, updating article with installation process as I go along. Service packs sure are fun!
ohhh, can't wait to get home and see if i've a "surprise" waiting for me
im on vista x64 as well but the option for vista sp1 has not come up yet
any idea on when windows will invite me to try their new and improved sp1?
They said a while back that they'd only offer the update to PC's that don't contain any of the conflicting drivers, so I'd expect that's the reason some people don't see the update...
ooh got it
I'm afraid you're right dangel, not that exciting at all. I'm back on my PC now and the most exciting thing to happen so far is that I've had to opt out of the "Windows Customer improvement" program once again - yay.
Things do seem a little bit more responsive - but that's probably just the paranoia that you get when you install a Service Pack.
If anybody gets the SP on an x86-based PC, please let us know and I'll update the article accordingly.
Ohh I'll check my home PC when I get home later.
Other x64 Vista users are confirming the same, SP1 is available to them via Windows Update.
