Ooo nice find that, might give it a shot then as it'll be SAS before 2009.
Could also mean I could get away with taking V32u off of the missus crap laptop and having a "spare" copy...

Vista 64-bit is taking allot longer to boot after installing this
Right, installed V64u, now installing updates...
Havent tried to copy anything over the network yet tho...
vista service pack installed successfully! but the only problem was that my network card in my laptop wasn't working so i thought re-installing the drivers should do the trick but no. its wouldn't switch on. i went into device manager and checked the issue but it said that ir was working perfectly but no again so thought uninstalling sp1 lets see what that would do but no again. the problem went on and on for atleast 3 hours and my final decision was to do a system restore and resotred it. and then the problem was solved. microsoft says that vista customers . wait until mid april when sp1 is avaible. But sp1 standalone does cause some people issues.
people who have had this problem i say uninstall sp1 and wait until it comes in your automatic updates and its only like 1 or 2 weeks before it comes into effect.
I classify my self insane
Guess what, trying to copy 600mb from a USB pen to my machine and I'm getting 938kb a second.... :/
Had the same thing earlier copying to my NAS box....
The network should be fast damn it I'm on bloody C6/Gigabit here...
Trig - what network chipset are you using? You're being more than a tad unlucky, and I'd be interested is all.
Marvell Yukon 88E8056 on board..
Its gonna be driver or network stack related as it worked fine under XP, doesnt explain why I was getting slow speeds when copying from a USB stick to a drive, no network involved yet still getting crap transfer speeds...

I ditched Vista on my iMac as a Boot Camp partition when I got fed up of sslow transfer speeds over EVERYTHING, USB, LAN, FireWire, unzipping anything through explorer was a complete chore, and if I tried to unzip 2 things at once, well, Vista was nice enough to crash on me.
Worst piece of software. Ever.
Gone back to a Leopard/XP boot. And even then the XP is only for the odd bit of Garry's Mod and Warhammer Dawn Of War!

which iMac? An ex just bought one (i think partly to anoy me) and i'll be curious to see if she has the same problem.
One of the nicer things about mac's is because you've got no control over the build, they've completely standardised it. So issues like this will present themselfs on one and all (enless its faulty hardware or dodgy virus scanner/firewall).
Either that or your talking bollocks, i'd be intrested to know why unzipping would cause a system crash.

That's a fair point, in which case I guess we're really looking at your SATA drivers then (assuming it's an SATA drive) as a potentially limiting factor. I feel your pain on this - I spent last weekend working on a laptop which initially had the slow copy bug, and it was... not nice. That said, SP1 fixed it but at least I now have an idea as to your issues.
