No doubt Asus could do the same test and make their board somewhat better. Who really cares about these silly little figures.. 8 % saving on idle....
I would choose a board that has the best price/performance ratio. Gigabyte can brag all they like, but is anyone really that interested in such petty things?
Maybe Gigabyte should stop thowing their toys out of their pram and spend a bit of time fixing their bios code (temperature controlled fans anyone ...?)
I have had to Gigabyte boards in the past, both top range 965 and P35 boards and both rubbish. Had really bad issues with heat...
Anyhow. Gigabyte why not work on some better designs like Asus and come up with something useful that people will actually really care about...
Reckon upcoming p45 will sort the men from the boys...
Hi Guy!
as a test engineer of one of the pc retailer in Malaysia, i did test both motherboard.
for your information, base on the result...what GIGABYTE Claim was TRUE!!
****! i'm a ASUS supportor so far...Shameful.....
Are you sure you don't work for gigabyte? Signing up just to post in this thread...? (also at least the way I read your name it's a racial slur round my parts.. )
Anyway, it's stupid of both of them to have a slanging match as it undermines them in the eyes of their customers / potential customers. Plenty of examples... they're doing each other more harm than any good they're going to get out of it and what's more they're pissing off their customers.
You can imagine that Abit and the other motherboard manufacturers are looking at these two squabbling and having a good old giggle.
Dreaming
C2D E6300 @ 2.8 | | Abit IP35 Pro | | 4GB Corsair XMS2 800 | | BFG 8800GTS OC2 320MB | | 500GB Western Digital for OS + 1500GB Seagate for Storage | | Antec NeoHE 550 | | Lian Li PC A05B | | Samsung 226BW 22"
An 8% saving on idle... that'll add up to a hell of a lot cash saved over a year - keeping in mind that most PCs are at idle for most of the time. All of a sudden that price/performance ratio would look rather meaningless. All dependant on how true this is rather than just being PR of course though.
What is "the REAL information "?
If the photos in Gigabyte's report about burst capacitances of ASUS is actually taken from a photograph of a VGA card manufactured by another vendor. How could we believe his testing data?
And at May 23rd 2008, ASUS released the newest response, you could find on his official website. The topic is " ASUS Public Statement "
I lean to believe ASUS now.
Only when duplicating the exact same environment. the test results could be believed. Although Gigabyte use his high end P35 board to compared with ASUS's P5K SE, haha, how to say that?
Not only EPU, but also DES, I think the really bout is on P45.
Expecting the ASUS P45.
I think we will know the truth soon.
