its all very well having very high speeds on ddr3 but that isnt holding it back at this time, they should be working on latencies as they need sorting alot and once they sort that then maybe ddr3 will become more mainstream.

Looking at the Part no TW3X2G2133C9DF I would guess its CAS9
That is the same latency as DDR2-1066 at CAS 4.5
I'd say that's pretty low latency

ah, i missed that part lol. I guess its not to bad but then they seriously need to work on the price or just lower cas again(if they can) and then hopefully even more people will buy it making it more mainstream.

Nobody in their right mind is going to buy this stuff, Intel CPUs do a fantastic job of keeping the cache filled before the execution units need it, so you're not going to get an incredible performance gain from DDR3, and unless the price comes down very hard to start matching DDR2 prices, it just isn't going to take off in the mainstream market.

The price will come down. That's what computers are all about, really.

Just as an update, prices are starting to fall, to an "affordable" level.

I would be looking to have 6gb in my Nehalem system. Compared to 4gb (1333mhz) at 114.70, I'd currently expect it to hit the market at about £180-ish.

Indeed, this Hexus page mentions that whilst the rrp is £209, one supplier had it at £183.35. (Had gone up, though, as I wrote this.)

The price of DDR3 is coming down to a mainstream level. (DDR2's falling, too, sure.)

[I bought 2gb of RAM for my Core 2 system for about £160. I wouldn't want to spend this much now for RAM, bcs I bought 4gb for around £70 recently. For 6gb of DDR3, I'd ideally like to pay no more than £120. My concern is when I can buy at this price.]
