Soo.. 10 months from now? They teased what looked like pretty close to finished code last summer, why the delay?
Also, 8GB of install space is what I'd call inefficient.
Do you know anything about modern computer games?
They teased such a small proportion of the game that if that was all that was contained in the final game it wouldn't be worth buying. I suppose you also think that 640k RAM is more than enough for everything
But Hexus, is this news, or an unsubstantiated rumour?
i heard its a rumour
YES!!! D3 is coming..... to pc!. Now the consoles have lost the argument that an rpg is better on console as diable series is the best . 10months is nothing, i was expecting over a year as games to take ages to program and knowing blizzard they dont want a buggy game as it could ruin the series. Looks like the game kept all the great bits about d2 and just got new graphics and more gear, i like very much . a few of my mates wouldnt play D2 simply because of the graphics but they really want d3 as they loved the look of the graphic and gameplay.
Now to find something to occupy me till then....
Surely december the 24th is a bit late in the year for a release date. Id have thought the 1st of december to cash in with the xmas run up would have been the way to go. Should be good looking forward to it - it might get me gaming on a pc again
Permanently confused
Its blizzard - you knew it was going to be a long way away - the fact its coming out this year is a good thing!!! Mind you, what with the Christmas post and all, I can already forsee the "My pre-order didnt come through and its all your fault Blizzard, I hate you and your stupid game etc, etc" threads...
Will definitely get it though - Saw the videos when they first came out and loved the way it was. As long as they have a paladin equivalent, I'll be happy, but the last I looked, dont think one is being included... Oh well.
I know, I know. A lot of games use up to 7 gigs. Doesn't make it right though. A game install is now substantially larger than a winXP installation. People need to optimise their code dammit.
As to the content we saw, yes it was teeny, but I meant it appeared close to finished in terms of gameplay mechanics. It just seems a bit long to wait for them to flesh out the rest of the level design and textures. Development time generally implies fundamental gameplay/bug issues that need to be resolved. With the people on staff these studios have, putting meat on the bones is pretty fast.
Thus, to expand on my original shallow point, the delay of release to Christmas implies they have some structural issues to iron out. Which is fine, better late than rushed.
I'd say its an unsubstantiated rumour. If it had been confirmed as Steven has said in the article, then all the major sites would be leading with the news. Blizzards own web site and Diablo forum have nothing about this. So i call BS for now until Blizz have officially announced the release date.
I'd like to know where this confirmation comes from. Come on Hexus, you can do better than this.December 24, 2009 has been confirmed as the release date for the much anticipated and long awaited action role-playing game, Diablo III, the third installment in Blizzard's popular franchise.
Awesome news
And good to see that the release date is about what most people expected - rather than substantially later. I'm looking forward to the multiplayer beta, should mean that some ideas as to what builds to go for are clear by the time the game is properly released.
Not sure that the 24th is best, good for last minute presents (not like it'll be in stock unless you pre-order!), but i would have thought maybe the 20th would serve better. Still, Blizzard knows best!
8GB.... need to buy myself a new hard drive then. I'm down to 7.83gb...
Is 500GB>320GB or is the price difference too much? :S
Its coming guys... patience.
I wouldn't place much stock in that 24th release date, if Blizzard really are intending to launch it in time for this christmas they would have practically missed the opportunity to exploit the christmas market. I'd expect it a few weeks before, means they can catch the online orders and the highstreet then.
TBH I don't think we will see D3 until next year but hey we've waited almost 10 years for a sequel, we can wait a bit longer
