From what I've read (here and elsewhere), Ion's targeted at providing moderately capable PC type graphics to systems based on things like Atom (I guess they could do something similar for Nano too), so netbooks/subnotebooks/SCCs, whereas the Mali platform appears much more targeted at devices like smartphones, windows mobile devices etc. It'd be entirely possible, I'd have thought, for Nvidia to embrace both.
