    News - EVGA launches GeForce GTX 285 Mac Edition, includes mandatory Apple tax

    NVIDIA's high-end GPU is now available for Mac Pro systems, but it'll cost $100 more than the PC alternative.

    In all honesty why do they charge more? Is there really anything different at the end of the day? If not why don't people just buy a PC version of the card instead?

    I think you are overlooking one of the main differences with this and the PC version... it has a MAC Edition label on it so i am sure most will agree with me here its worth the extra $100.00

    So... if you plugged the PC version of the card into a Mac, would it work? If not, and they have had to make fundamental architectural changes to the PC version to make this card, then I can understand the price premium as they would need to recoup devleopment costs - and presumably they won't be selling too many of these...

    But if the above isn't the case, why on earth would this card even exist?

    lol. For a minute I thought the Mac one is hardware-wise different to the PC one.
