worked allot beter than the previous release for me just now.

Didn't even have to change my controller to IDE mode - detected it in AHCI, flashed within seconds and asked me to power down and boot after 10 secs - booted straight into Win7 x64 no probs at all

Re: News - Intel brings TRIM support to 34nm SSDs, again

Seems to have been a negligible effect thus far:

    Before:
    Sequential Read : 245.606 MB/s
    Sequential Write : 89.165 MB/s
    Random Read 512KB : 167.688 MB/s
    Random Write 512KB : 89.270 MB/s
    Random Read 4KB : 23.254 MB/s
    Random Write 4KB : 62.078 MB/s

    Test Size : 100 MB

    After:
    Sequential Read : 242.686 MB/s
    Sequential Write : 88.128 MB/s
    Random Read 512KB : 170.133 MB/s
    Random Write 512KB : 89.153 MB/s
    Random Read 4KB : 21.856 MB/s
    Random Write 4KB : 63.341 MB/s

    Test Size : 100 MB

    (X25-M 34nm 80gb)

Maybe a bit low compared to figures listed earlier in the thread but that could be drive/model dependent.

Does it wipe the data on the drive?

It's not meant to, no. But as with all firmware updates, it's probably prudent to have a backup just in case.

It doesn't wipe the data, but like the previous comment, there have been some issues reported about failed updates in which you could lose your data, so best back it up!!

Also, Intel have said that it improves performance, but can't really see it from the above results. I'll probably wait it out a little bit incase there are issues (not as bad as the first firmware release I hope!!)

    X25-M 34nm 160gb
    seq read: 259
    seq write: 113
    random read: 200
    random write: 109
    4kb read: 23
    4kb write: 60

    Firmware has increased write performance.
