Yeah, 90% yield means 90 chips out of 100 meet requirements. That might mean that for a process that produces 1 chip for high and low end products, 5% may end up for the top end cards, 25% for mid end and the rest for low end (due to defects, but still useable), and the rest get chucked/recycled.

Or very recently bought an 58xx card? No one likes to see their asset devalue suddenly even though it happens all the time with PC components And I think there are people who still hold a grudge with how nVidia dealt with certain matters (e.g. PhysX).

so barely beats it in Dirt 2 but does a good bit better in Far Cry 2 which does better on nvidia anyway and IMO a really crap game.

    for a lot more $/£/Euro

I think the performance in BF:BC2 will swing a lot of on the fencer's.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 benchmarked

given its looking like very few 512 shader cards will be out (rumours of !Ultra! cards) Doesnt this just smack of the 260 cards? the ones that got diff shader counts?

VERY interested if benchmarked cards will be same as retails.

Yup it is similar, but interesting that they had to cut the high end part as well - with the 280 they had enough that worked that they didn't need to. I would certainly consider waiting a while for the manufacturing to improve as the revision 2 or 3 of the card could be quite nice (as with the 260).

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 benchmarked

It will be worth the wait for a complete benchmark test by Hexus with teh new 10.3 drivers to see if ATI have managed to pull a fast one on Nvidia especially considering the cost/power and cooling requirements of the cards.

If you consider the TDP of a single fermi card can you imagine what you would need for a dual card?? 800+ watt PSu anyone??

Just had a forum member state he's getting 3 480s and a 980X in due course. Thats 1000W right there, regardless of OC.
