Oh its been done, UT3 on the ps3, i can honestly say ive not lost a single match and the closest anyone got to me was 20 frags i have to say it was very and i mean VERY satisfying to proove my brother in law that his "mighty" ps3 pad was nothing compared to me and my K/M. I went out and bought the game specifically for it, its great as you do get a few people with mics and they wonder how your so good lol
I've played a couple of FPS using a KB and mouse against someone using a controller the difference is marked. I could often see them still trying to line up a shot as I pulled another clean headshot and yes when I switched to the controller and someone else got the mouse i got owned too
It's the equivalent of trying to play a flying game using a keyboard against someone with a proper joystick. Controls make a huge difference.
im all for x-platform games. Just let the guy who is hosting decide what he wants, at the end of the day, if people see its a xplatform server they will just not go on it. So i dont see the issue
and having a £3 ebuyer mouse for nearly 5 years, i just bought a expensive proper gaming mouse. And with in mins i thought, gaming mice are a cheat. The whole DPI switching makes the game soo much easier
I hate console controllers for fps games, playing an fps on a console to me is like trying to push porridge up a hill backwards. I did get used to it eventually but the way you moved around, looked around and lined up for a shot etc was nowhere near a fluent as me doing it with my logitech 518 mouse and blowing someones head off in the first shot rather than taking 5 shots at it.
lmao, just driving with a controller in gta4 is terrible
I use my PS3 controller for racing games
Actually there are certain parts of GTA 4 that are better with a controller than they are keyboard and mouse.
It's a case of right tool for the job I think. As I eluded to in my post. For shooting you require the ability to snap to a target quickly and stay on it, mouse is easier for this than a console controller, but for flying/driving you need a smooth, constant analogue input, which comes from controllers trying to fly with a mouse is nigh impossible in most games, even in FPS designed for PC. I'm sure everyone has sworn at someone trying to in BF for example, not sure how many choppers I've seen take off from the carrier and immediately end up in the ocean.
It's not that one control system is inherently better, they're both designed to be all rounders, capable of doing everything well enough and obviously each has it's strengths and weaknesses.
