I like the new look but can't help thinking it layed out like another "Leading source for Hardware" (without naming it) site !!! This is better IMO...
Hexus is my number one

@George1: Move stuff to new cluster. Do some reconciliation. THEN the forums. Give it a month or so, hopefully
@Andi-C: Lol, quite a few differences, but if you distil it down enough all news sites are more or less the same*. Go to the Times (or other similar) website and imagine it in a sans-serif font... you could draw a lot of parallels between it and a lot of other sites if you do. The important thing, of course, is writing original, quality content... and that's still the top order of the day around here.
*Unless you suddenly decide your sites should be designed like everyone's using an iPad, but that's a whole other rant I'm sure a lot of people would join me in.
DR (06-10-2011)
Yeah, I like the new design but at the moment I'm still on 1024 x 768 so I have to scroll across but it's no biggie. And yes Steve you are right, content is always king.
DR (06-10-2011)
How much do you scroll across? Some of the right column might get cut off, but that probably isn't what you're trying to read most of the time. I wrote some stuff to handle small-yet-still-desktop screens a while ago, so I'll pass it on to Jonatron to see if he can do anything useful with it.
Don't worry, it's just the most viewed/commented box at the right-hand side, I like to look at it now and again.

Although lack of content has also been done superbly - check out the custom 404 page.
PS: Any chance of putting in a redirect for Hexus.Trust links in the forums?
If you can't keep up, stick with reality...
Steve - I've PM'd you an example I found.

Those who say that everyone hates when a site changes its design obviously don't know about the awesomeness of HEXUS' designers.
DR (06-10-2011)
aargh, what happened to Hexus??? I'm getting a huge flash warning and then nothing is where its sposed to be and..... oohh shiny
ok, I won't make you change it back then....

Personally not liking it, looks a bit of a mess stuff all over the place, preferred the old look.
Sorry - I dont want to be overly critical but no Hexus! Bad Hexus!
FARRRRRR TOO much real estate given away to advertising on the homepage - in particular across the top. The masthead is way too big pushing key content too far down the page. HPTO are meant to be impactful but not overwhelming! The advertising instantly made me go "Ugh - dont like". Currently I have a Samsung LED monitor HPTO and the samsung logo is as big as the Hexus logo! LED monitor series being twice the size! I mean thats partly due to the naff design from the ad but its also partly because they have that much space available...toooooo much!
I don't understand why the Hero has been split into 3 (2) sections? Latest reviews, Competition and feedback. Personally, I think it would be better if the hero spanned the width the main content area and the other sections sat underneath or in the right hand column. This may just be my taste though.
And there is just far too much going on, there is too much information for someone to digest at a glance! I dont mind the style - very hexus and very well signposted. But personally the homepage is not good!
I prefer the nested pages which are cleaner, concise and easier to absorb. They just have a bit more space to breathe...
And the mpu in the RHC looks weird when it doesn't sit flush with the other content...and maybe add some keylines around the images. Would seat them better rather than having a GPU cut in half and floating in the air.
Apologies if I come across slightly strong in this post. Getting critical feedback is never nice but i'm hoping its constructive
I find the adverts too much and given the size of them // their fonts, I find them more distracting than the content I wanted to read.
The design is cracking and I really like it, but the massive advert background is god awful. Get rid of that and its amazing
