Re: News - iPhone 4S smashes pre-order record

My take is this... android has more known bugs and they are discovered more quickly. This is because of a two main reasons:
    1) Open source/developer community
    2) More techie users who will investigate potential problems rather than ignoring them (I personally know of plenty of iphone issues ignored by iphone users* - not sure how widely they will be reported as in my sample of ~10 iphone users, most of them just choose to live with the issues quietly)

I'm sure iOS has many unknown bugs, and so will android, but my money is on there being less on android than iOS.

*an example being, me trying to call a guy with an iphone 3gs in the middle of London and it going straight to voice mail every time I call him. When I finally bump into the guy, he had full reception all along but his "iphone just does this" and when he took it to the apple store, they denied this was a problem. I've heard of this happening to one other iphone user too.

Better camera, dual core processor, and not to mention the epeen"

It is a better camera and better cpu but what we are saying (well most of us) is that it only brings it up to the competition and uses the same style so you cant really use it for epeen, epeen generally is buying like an intel 900extreme chip for £1000 cains everything but only by a fraction and costs loads, epeen! If it looked slightly different id say yeah you could .

Im not seeing where your opinion has been removed? if you want to pay £200 for a new phone upgrade then your welcome to, only yourself can justify the costs etc .
+1 on what Hicks12 is saying - actually I kind of agreed with what you (Hoonigan) was saying - if someone offered me the 4->4S jump for "only" £200 then I'd be tempted - dual-core, working antenna, etc. If that marks me as 'shallow' then so be it - although in actuality the '4 and '4S don't suit me at all, so I wouldn't buy one. Heck, I was considering paying about that much to go from an X10 on Three to SGS2 on T-Mobile, but that's more to do with despising Three than any real dissatisfaction with the old X10.

There's some real enthusiastic folks on Hexus, but in 99.999...% of cases the discussion stays technical and relatively polite and doesn't degrade to the "you're ugly, stupid and smell of stale cheese and wee" seen on other places. I've certainly had some "interesting" discussions in the past with folks I don't agree with. So Hoonigan please feel free to express your opinions - I might not agree, but it's good to hear all sides of an argument.

Given their (Apple's) love of "thinner is better" I'm actually quite surprised that the 4S isn't a little bit "slimmer". That said, I'd argue that there's definitely a point at which further 'thinning' is undesirable - because the resulting device becomes damned uncomfortable to hold.

Unless Samsung (or Apple perhaps - but I credit them with more sense) are going to team up with Kawasaki and do a "Ninja" phone - one so thin that it counts as an offensive weapon - sort of the 21st century version of the old sword stick so popular in Victorian times!

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...
