Re: News - Nokia announces Lumia Windows Phone handsets

I think the Nokia Lumia 800 looks good, though they are taking a serious risk with the price.. £450? They are too close to iPhone 4S territory and you can get a Samsung Galaxy S2 for £399 off Amazon.
Nokia need to consider taking to price down to £350 for some serious market penetration imho. Maybe they'll start cutting the price after Xmas.

Still, its a start of a come back for Nokia and Windows Phone is definitely a "dark horse" I think.. they just need to get Flash/Silverlight sorted and getting the app library growing and I'll be considering getting a Windows Phone if not specifically the Lumia 800.

I tend to agree with all the points you're making. I seem to remember that the SE X10 I've currently got launched at a "premium" price, before coming down to a more reasonable level. So I've no reason to suspect that the Lumia's won't also be "re-aligned" - especially when we see all the phone companies doing them - at the moment Three is the only one I know are doing it/them. See http://blog.three.co.uk/2011/10/25/n...ming-to-three/

At the moment, the L800 looks fine to me - only two problems being that I can't get CoPilot for it, and what the SGSIII will be. It's going to be nice to be spoilt for choice when renewal time comes around middle of next year.

I must admit I think they are trying to get a 'halo' effect going on with the 800, so people want it, metro looks damn brilliant on a superblack AMOLED. Then they just sell them the cheaper one....

Part of the strategy MS n Nokia are saying is to have a better in store presence, and educate the sales goons a bit.

The fact of the matter is the cheaper nokia will run all the games, and apps, that the more expensive one does. This is not something that can be said of the andriod.
