Battery life in weeks? Oooh, sign me up for one of those.
Predicting novel innovations are - by definition - difficult. How about Nokia bucking the trend for slimness, and using the extra bulk to put in a proper optical zoom on their cameras. Or some kind of new power saving technology.
Sorry, didn't explain myself - I've noticed that there's an increasing tendency to pigeon-hole folks as either "iPhone" or "Android" and be disparaging about anything else - hence the comment. Likewise, there's been some sneering articles about how you can't expect a desktop/server OS maker to do a decent phone OS - there's too much temptation to bring in features from the other products, leading to bloat and poor responsiveness.
Similarly there's been comments that "Nokia are a spent force" and that maybe they'd be better partnering with Apple - iPhone meet nPhone. All of the comments etc in this and the previous paragraph are, imho, stupid statements or positions.
Personally, as a self-confessed Nokia fan, I'm willing to wait and see what the combination of Microsoft and Nokia can deliver. Following Microsoft standard practice I'm avoiding "Device 1.0" and waiting for the 2nd generation - hence the other comment about being eager to see what MWC2012 will bring. That said, I'm still unconvinced by the WP7 UI, but closer to the time-to-change I'll try and have a "hands on" with a WP7 device.
Getting back to the article, maybe those two behemoths (Nokia and Microsoft) can deliver something that those disaffected iPhone users can "buy into"?
