Considering that the 32Gb Nexus is coming out soon, still at £200, why would you pay an extra £150 for the same in Apple trousers? No point in a (slightly) bigger screen if the resolution's worse.

the ipad 3 is hardly obsolete. All they have done is souped up the camera, changed the connector and perhaps given it a few more MHz. Obsolete would suggest its no longer relevant... well the ipad 2 is still relevant, hell even the first one can still be used for sofa browsing!
Its a bit of a shame the mini didnt hit that all important £200 mark, bet they still sell a butload though!
Because the Nexus doesn't have the "cachet" of that big Apple logo on the back - remember that it's been found officially (in a UK court) that having this logo automatically makes a device "cooler" and therefore more desirable.
If my locale is any guide then PC World etc will be really pushing the iP Mini - so it'll sell in bucketloads, whereas the Nexus is firmly in the "and we also sell these if you really want something different" category.
I'm with you though in that a 32GB Nexus for 200 notes is much more desirable to me than an 8" iPod Touch.
And is it just me or is the Apple nomenclature a complete mess, e.g. iPad2, new iPad (iPad3) and now this newer "new iPad" (iPad4) - or should I be referring to this latest iPad by a different name - Newer iPad, the Autumn/Winter 2012 iPad, etc?

It lies
Only 3 "current" iPad models on the website - iPad Mini, "iPad2" and" iPad with Retina"
They'll be referring to old ones by release dates, similar to how iMacs and Macbook Pros are (Summer 2011, etc)

Apple users have no imagination....
They all want to have the same device!
He is, but then tbh it's still not very appealing to iPad 3 owners as an 'upgrade' since in practice it probably doesn't make a huge difference for the kind of thing you might be doing with one. For reference, I have the 3.
As for the mini - i've decided to refer to it as the iPad "Meh" because you'd have to be incredibly married to Apple's ecosystem to consider it as being a good buy versus the N7 (or any one of the other myriad of decent tablets) which is faster to use than the mighty ipad3, has a higher res screen and the better OS too. It's bad enough that Mrs Dangel takes the piss out of my 'slow' iPad 3 - take away my higher res screen, fit a slower cpu and it's worse still. Apple seem to be making a lot of noise about "thinner" and not a lot else..
So hang on, is the 4th Gen iPad called the iPad 3, or is the table wrong?
Ah fair enough. I wonder if it will be called the iPad 4 or just the 'new new iPad'?
