Bit of a better look at the case with Jeff@Corsair:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U8_UyQC7hk

I am not sure that it is that well thought out - for instance vertical optical drives and usb3.0 connectors stuck in the middle of the case (what if you want to connect say a portable hard drive using these) These rather obviously should have been placed at the top or bottom. Basically if they had added another inch to the right hand side of the case everything there could have been done conventionally - with plenty of 3.5" and 5.25" drive bays ...

Looks good but also looks flawed to me.

Re: News - Corsair unveils double-wide Carbide Air 540 chassis

I've been having another look (Already seen that video of Jeff, will be good when he starts a build video, they are always good) on the web for anything about this case, and realised that the drive mounts at the bottom of the main air cavity are for mechanical 3.5 inch drives.

I'm wanting to keep the bottom of the case clear as possible, and I thought that I could put the drives in the PSU side. The drive cage there is only for SSDs, so I guess that I will put it in one of the 5.25 bays. Luckily I only have one 3.5 inch drive but others might not.

I know why this is, as there is only one actively cooled side but still... And I hope that that SSD drive cage can be removed, as the grill above the PSU might be ok for another radiator.

Basically, need to wait for a decent in depth review, to get a better look with a built system. Still want it though. Wish they didnt have the prison bar look over the fan mesh though. A plain look would have been nicer IMO.

This chassis looks like it will start a new trend because the idea of running air ofver the hottest parts without other parts getting in the way is revolutionary

Shouldn't that be the other way round?

Can't see many people needing 4 SSDs but being OK with only 2 mechanical.
SSD's are the way forward, with no moving parts they last longer. it shouldn't be long until they bring the capacities up to mechanical sizes and beyond

Nice, will be good to see more reviews with thoughts on temperatures with numbers etc, but its got a lot of nice pictures, and gives me a nicer idea what I can get in there

Really wish that they provided the same fans as the ones they sold, in a cosmetic sense, as the grey looks a bit pants. You cant even put the coloured ring on them, but I guess it means people will buy more! Also, wish the grills were flat - would have looked a lot cleaner IMO.

Its looking good - so close to pre-ordering, I have a feeling that this will sell like hot cakes.

Well, there are plenty of reviews coming out, and the following video does a pretty decent job of giving an idea if the space that is available.

It's not new in the slightest, it just hasn't really managed to shift the current orthodoxy. Lian-Li's PC-90 does a fairly good job of it, though with awful cable management, and Silverstone's RV-04 and FT-04 also try to address the problem. (though you'd need to remove the drive cage, and for some reason they've inverted the motherboard)

This is easily the best as far as cable management and price go, but not much else.

Saying that, given that the FT-04 can fit 79200mm^2 of radiators (180x360mm and 120mm), or 5.5 120mm rads, you're talking a far louder case in the Air 540 for barely more radiators. (admittedly you'd probably need to attack the FT-04 with a dremel to fit a front 360x180mm rad)

120mm radiators have better fan options as well as generally having better radiator choices compared with 180mm, granted, but the Alphacool NexXxos ST45 180mm dual looks to be a step in the right direction there.

Re: News - Corsair unveils double-wide Carbide Air 540 chassis

I Love the look of this case and the reviews have been quite impressive so far and perfect for my new h100. I think you can put 3.5" bays in the 5.25" bay increasing the number of bays to 4 at a minimum. I have heard about noise concerns but with the performance rated at stock air cooled but I will be able to adjust fan speeds especially with the performance numbers given!
