I have 2 Win 8 pcs. One with 8 Pro and the other with 8.1 Preview.
I have the update offered on the 8 pro pc but not the 8.1 preview pc.

Yes. Boot to desktop will make everything nicer. I only use MUI to launch chrome/steam anyway.

Upgraded, can't really tell any major differences apart from Windows saying it wasn't activated and refusing to activate with my key as said it was in use on another computer, it isn't at all so had to activate by phone, though why I should have activate again at all is beyond me.

Subtle differences to the start screen make it look a little more appealing though I doubt I will use it.

I did have loads and loads of micro stutters scrolling on web pages but I believe that was a conflict with Start Menu 8 as updated to 1.3 and thats gone now.

Seen a few more different things like folder view etc, quite liking that, overall no probs really.

I'll install it - I like the idea of boot to desktop.

Now if they'll just fix the stupid split screen setup for Apps (like the PDF reader) and make the split adjustable, I'll be a happier camper.

Isn't the adjustable split screen planned?

I want that, as well as the merged search results to make the results similar to the Win7 start menu search. I also want to see the Skype app being able to launch when Windows starts up... how they didn't think of that blows my mind.

The nicest thing is that the background on the Metro and Desktop modes is now able to be the same -- it's not nearly as jarring when you press the windows key.

I couldnt see it, but then I checked windows update, installed outstanding updates, then 8.1 appeared in the store.
