I'm gonna guess that since HDMI 2.0 came out relatively recently (3 months ago) there wasn't enough time to integrate it. Displayport on the other hand supported 60Hz 4K from 2009 onwards so I find manufacturers not including that to be weird imo.
*edit* looking at you 4K TVs. "We'll ship out a HDMI 2.0 board later when it's released" just give me displayport now, add HDMI 2.0 later if you really want :/
Better late than never I guess... hopefully more entrants into the market next year.
PS Endgadget says that Dell are targeting a $1000 price tag on the 28" model next year (compared to $3500 for the 32" and $1399 for the 24"). Strange pricing, tho 28" might have fewer features?

From a personal perspective....a 24" 4k display is just the right size for me, not sure I can fit a 27/28" in my 'corner' and the price isn't too bad for fairly new tech, if you ignore the currently annoying dell UK markup (not just on this screen, they all seem to considerably have higher prices than a US conversion + VAT + a little extra)
Do I want one now.... not sure, I like the idea of more real estate for my CAD work etc but I'm not really sure the GPU's are quite up to the task yet for heavier work at this res, not to mention gaming.
I'd say that in another year or two this will likely be the mainstream res for higher end 24" displays in the same way we're currently 1080p, gpu's will have caught up and panel production costs will have come down so the price should be cheaper then too.
Pleiades, the only reason I can think of why the 28" might be cheaper is because 27/28" displays are a more common size for 4k at the moment
I wish I could find this same monitor made by Samsung or even better, LG. But alas, the world is cruel.
Sorry for the double post, but I'd just like to add, 24" seems perfect for a monitor with this resolution. Not only do you get a higher ppi count, your picture quality increases tremendously whole also having the divine pleasure of being able to fit the monitor into your current work/game table without needing any modifications or additional furniture purchases.
The also announced 28" piqued my interest more as i currently run a Dell 27" and would not really like to downsize to less physical real estate.
The build quality needs to improve, my U2713HM is a bit creaky. Its likely Apple will out a retina cinema display monitor in the not to distant future which is likely to be eye wateringly expensive. If Dell could get near to the Apple build quality but come in well under their likely price then it would likely sell well.
Personally i would rather invest more now in a computer monitor than a television as i watch less of the latter while using more of the former.
Seems kinda pointless to me. I'd have thought 2560*1600 would make more sense for 24" (and even that is possibly a bit silly) but I guess I'd like to actually see one in operation before I say any more. Maybe others have much better eye sight than I do...
Personally it doesn't appeal to me, I currently use a U2711 and have no desire to go smaller AND increase the resolution, just means everything will be tiny unless you manually scale everything up.
Then again I haven't used a 4k screen, so who knows maybe I'll be an instant convert
They don't make their own display panels. I'd rather have a monitor designed and made by the same manufacturer.
Presumably up-scaled 1080p would look pretty good on a 4k monitor, since it's just a case of mapping one pixel to four?
I suspect Chinese manufacturers and brands will start to arrive in strength next year. The Seiki model that caused a stir earlier with its $500 price tag may be getting upgraded to HDMI 2.0 so that QuadHD will be available at a decent refresh rate (60hz) - whilst FullHD would benefit from 120hz...
