Probably not, Even with Haswell's IPC at 33% better per core than my Aging 950,, id have to get a hex core to ~4.8Ghz to make it a worthwhile upgrade in the lighter threaded tasks I do such as gaming.

Hell no. This processor sounds more suited for workstation as compared to my gaming needs.
I wont be as I just upgraded to Z97 and a 4790k and even if I hadn't, I wouldn't because of the price of the CPU's and DDR4 and also the TDP of those CPU's. So I'd probably just go out and get the same setup again if I had to.
Given some of my tasks take days or even weeks with a team of 3 i7 quads working together, I think this platform might be aimed at me... But I'm still not buying consumer x99, I'd go for a dual socket board intended for xeons, where I can get more cores than this even without the second CPU and with it I can blast this out of the water. DDR4 can wait too, quantity is more lacking than speed imo, hundreds of gigabytes of ddr3 will do nicely.
I gave it some thought, but as mentioned above its a lot of cash to hand over for features that I will probably never need in the short term, so I went for a 4790K and Asus Maximus iv to replace my Sandy Bridge i7 that is showing signs of an early death due to being over clocked.
I think it's too early for me to consider an upgrade from my current rig to something new, I'll start saving now but I think realistically I would be talking another 2 generations down the line before I do my next build and maybe some minor upgrades between now and then but that's it.
I will wait a few months till the price comes down which it will eventually then upgrade my 950

No, quite happy with my 8150 cpu. As others have said the cost is too much and then you get teething problems. Maybe when the next amd fx platform comes out ill decide what to upgrade to. Until then im happy.
(But damn...that 8 core 16 thread is a beast)
I have been waiting for "slightly delayed" DDR4 ram (which has been offered on a certain memory manufacturers website for well over 12 months), as my aging DDR2 system is struggling a tad, however I'm going to wait for the prices to drop before I consider it. I may actually wait until the up and coming Skylake (or whatever they call it now) which is rumored to have a new form factor (again)...
Yes. I've ordered the i7-5960X and Asus X99 Deluxe mobo.
Still too early for me to consider upgrading as my i5 2500k is still performing at a satisfactory level... I may look at upgrading in about 2 years but until the CPU really becomes a bottleneck in games I will not upgrade. My main focus is GPU upgrades because my 7950 will not be up to the task of playing Star citizen and other games in the oculus rift so I am keenly following news on AMD and Nvidia GPU developments but I still think I will be getting a new GPU end of next year.
No, it's too expensive
nope too expensive
Money better invested in a new graphics card as a gamer. So no not going to bother.
For me, Haswell E would have to comfortably crack 5ghz on air and have at least 10% more performance per core than Devils Canyon before I would even consider a X99 system.
No point in buying for a gaming system as an overclocked i5-i7 system will be faster.
No point in buying for mulitple GPU setups as more than 2 cards don't work well at all.
A Xeon or Opteron based workstation/desktop is probably a better option if I was looking for multi threaded performance.

What;s not to like? How about the price for negligible better performance? And if AMD wasn't here we'd be paying twice as much. And if AMD made better products we'd be paying less. Intel pricing so obviously shows that already.
