Got a bigger SSD, which does what it says on the tin. Next year I wanna do a Case transplant to the Define R5 and get a new H100 cause mine has that stupid noise thing going on. A new PSU wouldn't hurt too.

Re: QOTW: Which PC components did you upgrade in 2014?

Downgraded from a GTX670 to an R9 270. Didn't get on with the pitch the 670 made, was an awesome card in performance though, but I had no room in my case for an aftermarket cooler, so it had to go. The 270 handles most of my needs while staying pretty quiet. Don't expect that I'll want to upgrade it until at earliest the end of next year (unless I find it's not able to keep up with the game I'm developing - the full shader set is starting to get silly).

Re: QOTW: Which PC components did you upgrade in 2014?

The only thing I have changed this year is an SSD, in the sense that I bought one. I could still live happily without one really.

Could do with a new GPU, but getting a new G-Sync monitor seems as though it'd give better value than a new GPU.

I put an AMD FX8320 in place of my quad core.
Now even Windows Technical Preview runs smoothly(ish).

Re: QOTW: Which PC components did you upgrade in 2014?

I bought new mousepad... and an additional Toshiba 500GB HD for my lappy that's got a Samsung SSD 128GB inside. I'm not too keen on upgrading, but rather buying the whole new PC. I only upgrade a PC when some component breaks, and that happens rarely since I buy good quality components.

GTX 660 up to GTX 780, and that's it. Maybe next year I'll update from Sandy-E to the flavour of the month

Won't be worth doing - Sandy Bridge E is still more than capable.

Nothing... First child has taken all time and finances this year. Hoping to fit a SSD in my budget laptop this next year with christmas money and use the old HDD to replace a failed HDD in my desktop (Slow 2.5" HDD in a desktop - yes it has got that bad).
    Trust

    Laptop : Dell Inspiron 1545 with Ryzen 5500u, 16gb and 256 NVMe, Windows 11.
