Despite never owning an iPhone... I've always appreciated their phone designs... they always seemed to set the standard for the industry in terms of design (and many vendors soon followed) but lately they seem to have lost the magic touch

Incent?
Does he mean incentivate?
I've managed without an iPhone (in fact ANY Apple products ) for all this time so I can manage without this one as well. Apple are the experts at creating the desire and 'must have' atmosphere for something before anyone even knows what it does. This is building up the hype and expectation.
Love how articles like this get the Android fanboys seething with anti-Apple rage and derision.
The reality is that all the major smartphone manufacturers hype their upcoming products, as they're perfectly entitled to do (and indeed they'd be rather silly not to in today's ultra-competitive market).
I take it none of you have ever watched a Samsung Galaxy product launch?
It's a bit like Brexit and Bremain; so much love and hate from one side to the other. I personally don't like Apple products, even though I use a PC from them. I still prefer to build my own and use whatever OS I feel like, with each booting from a different SSD.
