Going to be my 1st new game purchase since the Witcher 3
Fingers crossed it'll live up to the hype. Still waiting for the embargo on the reviews to be lifted. (Though the day one patch issue will obviously affect that)

This is the first game I've been tempted to preorder since mass effect 2... Holding off though as I got burnt with that one. Given some good day one reviews I might well take the jump if I can find somewhere with a discount.
Don't have time to play this as well as Elite.
I've bit the bullet and actually pre-ordered this on PC.
This is a huge milestone as its my first ever game I've paid for prior to release so its best be as good as what I have seen.
So many big games, so little time...
Here's an early performance analysis of NMS from Eurogamer/digital foundry:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...mance-analysis
The FOV is quite narrow it seems and in cpu bound areas it's drops down to 15fps roughly when rendering terrain (flying over a new planet). I'm getting the impression NMS will be paired up with PS4 Neo and maybe PSVR. Standard PS4 users will be more of a cash cow. I'm might wait for a price drop rather than pre-order or buy soon, by which point some updates will be out too.
The biggest problem with NMS is going to be this...
(Warning the following video contains mildly offensive language.)
On the first day, two players meet each other in the same spot but can't see each other:

"Two players finding each other on a stream in the first day - that has blown my mind" - Sean Murray on twitter.
Patches to come, I'm thinking. If other players appeared as an ethereal image that you could talk to, rather than kill fps style that would be interesting (at least as an option).
It's an interesting one, since there's no synchronised time (each player is always in their own generated instance rather than having a common tick provided by a server) as far as the characters are concerned they might not be meeting at the same time.
Pause wouldn't work if it was synchronised. You can either have server time or local time. Look at Elite, that's on server time, so when you have 4 hours left of a mission and you log out for a nap it'll have failed when you join back up due to expiring time.
Anyone still preordering? I love the look of the game but £40 just feels too steep for a game I might not like (I haven't spent more than £23 on a game in a long time). Anyone feeling brave?
