    Is there a setting in your router to edit an individual's access rights?

    Re: Blocking an network computer from accessing adult sites

    I completely agree. I wrongly assumed it was an office environment, sorry

    I have a BT Hub (business) which has Content Screening. It works a treat and I'm constantly asked to unblock sites. From what I can see though, the home version is totally different.

    Can you access each individual computer and implement content blocking via IE (assuming they use IE)

    Re: Blocking an network computer from accessing adult sites

    1. Click "Tools"

    2. Click "Internet Options..."

    3. Click on "Content" tab

    4. In the "Content Advisor" section click on "Enable..."

    You are now in the Content Advisor. From here you can set your settings.

    * "Ratings" tab - Set rating levels for: language, nudity, sex and violence.

    * "Approved Sites" tab - Name sites that you will allow your children to always view or name sites that you neve want your children to view, regardless of the site's rating.

    * "General" tab
    o Allow or disallow your child to see sites that are not rated.
    o Create a password - this is great for use with older children. You set a password, then if your child goes to a site they want to see, but it is a disallowed site, you can allow the site using the password. You will have the option to always allow the site or only allow it this one time.
    o View or modify the rating system

    Blocking Software - If you really want to use one of the many site blocking programs out there, here are a few for you to consider:

    * We-Blocker - Free. Create different settings for each child.

    * CyberSitter - Rated #1 by PC magazine 2003.

    * KidsNet - Disallows certain types of emails from getting through. Age specific settings.

    * CyberPatrol - Restrict instant messages, email and sites.

    * NetNanny - Monitor and restrict or control your children's Internet viewing.

    * More Site Blocking Software

    Good Luck!

    Change the DNS servers to OpenDNS servers. Then you can register your IP address and set content filtering dependant on catagories.
    Works seamlessly!

    That would block access from all computers using NAT behind a single IP address, but would be a solution if the OP has multiple IP addresses and can assign one that isn't content controlled to his PC.

    (Thinking abouit it, it would work on a NAT/single IP address situation if the Open DNS IP address was configured on all the content controlled PCs but the normal ISP DNS server adress was entered on the uncontrolled PC - but a bit of an administrative mess though)
