Asked for an received the Dell U3417W at work instead of two monitors. Really liked it so I got a Samsung C34F791 for home. Using the latest AMD drivers (fixes flickering in previous drivers) with it and freesync (48-100Hz) is a real joy and it works great.
One thing though. Since it's curved it will reflect your voice back at you when speaking with colleagues. Moving a bit to the side solves that problem.
But I am keeping my 1440p 10bit display for photo work. They compliment each other nicely with the same DPI.
Ideally, I'd like an ultra-wide 4-5k monitor that can do both and can change between flat and curved panel shape. This might sound a bit too much to ask for but the tech for it is available, if still a tad on the pricey end. E.g. panels could be made out of foldable thin-film OLEDs, and thin panels out of electroactive polymers, eliminating the need for more expensive and prone to failure electric motor actuators. Heck, they could even very easily measure user's distance to the monitor and adjust curvature accordingly. Remember, flat is just a special case curvature!
I also would like to get a: ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q 27-inch Gaming Monitor. Super expensive. Curved monitors are even more. So I will stick to my 60Hz 1080p monitor. Or wait for FreeSync 2. See if it will be worth it.
I dislike curved screens for any purpose. We do not live in a curved concave world, so a screen which is curved concave makes the view very unnatural. Having said that, I just might make an exception for computer work in certain circumstances. That possibility would be a screen more than a metre wide at a viewing distance of less than one metre with a horizontal resolution of more than three thousand pixels. But, even then I suspect that I would prefer three separate, smaller monitors.

That couldn't be a better planet, the USA is gone! Sick to the back teeth of "American English" and their complete and utter lack of any kind of awareness that there's another world outside of their borders.

Curved monitors offer a much more natural setup IMHO. As long as they don't take it too far
Not on the size of monitor I use, only flat for that. Now if I had a mahoosive monitor I could see the benefit of curved.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.
Flat!
32inch 4k HDR 120+hz 16:10 G-Sync and/or FreeSync and a semi gloss coating for a good balance between glossy and matte screens,Both have pro's and cons!
Build it and they will come!
I used a 30" Dell monitor for years and loved it, then moved over to a new 34" curved Dell and again loved it. It is fantastic for everyday tasks, and tbh I love the fact that the slight curve does genuinely seem to help with the FOV and ability to easily focus on things at the outer edges...BUT...I have found that when I game on it for anything over an hour I experience feelings of mild nausea. I have never ever experienced it before on any other monitor. I can't help but wonder if it's something to do with the size of the screen and the curvature. I still use the screen for gaming and tbh am feeling like I am finally getting used to it after a few months of gaming (nausea still there, but reduced and more bearable). I would not change the screen and would probably go curved again at this size.
Query: Is there an option in graphics control panels to input the curvature of a monitor? At the moment due to the way most 3d engines are projected into a flat plane there tends to be stretching at the wide extremes. While this (with the right FOV) kind of self-callibrates for a flat monitor, on a curved monitor it would give the wrong effect, so can you tweak the engine to effectively raster onto a curved plane?
people saying flat have probably just never invested in curved. why would you not want more immersion? At 32" with HDR & Freesync the Samsung QLED range is a hard proposition to turn away from (unless you're green team gfx! (no hdr yet))
