BT launches 152Mbps and 314Mbps ultrafast fibre packages

Got a letter from Gigaclear or something like that, stating they'd be laying fibre lines round our way "soon" with the option to connect, for up to 300Mbps...

Driving to work this morning, there was a crew at the roadside doing works. Big long cabley stuff going in, hi-viz kit everywhere and big signs that read GIGACLEAR...
When they said "soon", they actually meant it??!!

According to their webby, for £75-odd a month I could potentially be enabled for up to 1Gbps??

Cost is just one challenge. There are connection, setup and activation charges, which look like they'll be at least £300.

It seems the only reason our little rurual area is finally getting fibre, is because the council are forced-purchasing all the farmland and houses (including ours) to bulldoze everything and build 15,000 new homes. Fair play to Gigaclear landing the network installation job nice and early, to avoid BT monopolising it. Shame we won't be around to use it, though.
