    Wow......

Driving to work this morning, there was a crew at the roadside doing works. Big long cabley stuff going in, hi-viz kit everywhere and big signs that read GIGACLEAR...
When they said "soon", they actually meant it??!!

According to their webby, for £75-odd a month I could potentially be enabled for up to 1Gbps??

Could this mean less Ttaskmaster moaning about his internet? Or just Ttaskmaster moaning at 1Gb/s?

Congratulations, you have been pitied by a force of fate, and your reward is actually competent internet! Well, if you can pay for it anyway. Pretty sure even Gigaclear is allergic to the marshy badlands I live in, but I live in hope.

Sorry, would you rather I just shut up and let other people get on with moaning about their pitiful 150Mbps?

Hah - Fortune piddles on me once again...
Cost is just one challenge. There are connection, setup and activation charges, which look like they'll be at least £300.

It seems the only reason our little rurual area is finally getting fibre, is because the council are forced-purchasing all the farmland and houses (including ours) to bulldoze everything and build 15,000 new homes. Fair play to Gigaclear landing the network installation job nice and early, to avoid BT monopolising it. Shame we won't be around to use it, though.

    Can't win...
