Re: QOTW: Are you tempted to switch from PC to console gaming?

No I'm not, simply put, console games are too expensive negating whatever apparent financial sense it makes, while having a really cut down selection of games compared to PC, and not being able to do much else besides gaming.

I own and game on both PC and PS4 Pro, why limit yourself to just one format when both can be enjoyed.

Re: QOTW: Are you tempted to switch from PC to console gaming?

As one who has never had a console, the attraction of the XBOX in its latest incarnation is just too good to miss. I've used Windows and Macs for games and certainly the MS Windows PC is well supplied with games. However as someone who needs a workhorse that is pleasant to operate the Mac wins hands down. Both however suffer expensive upgrade paths and despite my working hardware, OS upgrades force my hand to consider upgrading yet again.

When the consoles are finally released, price is an important factor and the range of games too. I'm particularly interested in seeing the forthcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator run on the Xbox and with its projected specification it just might suit me.

With all that processing power its a pity that these consoles can't also function as a general purpose PC, but I suppose that would be asking too much?

Never going to happen. I have tried out consoles with a Gamecube, PS2 & Xbox360 I always returned to my PC roots starting with the 486 back in the late 80's.

For some games, yes. But in general no.

At the moment, the opposite direction and thinking of delving back into PC gaming - the last time I had a windows based PC was 10 years ago.

"Switching" is a tiny bit misleading as I will still keep playing certain games on my PS4 Pro and Switch.

Re: QOTW: Are you tempted to switch from PC to console gaming?

Never! I will always have a powerful PC at home because I enjoy building it and uprgading it and tinkering to no end. I also work on my main desktop, I game, consume media. My main entertainment hub has long shifted to my home office from my living room, even though I have a respectable home theater setup. To the point where only the audio gear on my PC desk is now north of 2K€ and counting. But I am no console hater, and I will probably end up getting one of the new consoles, as I've always done, and end up not using it at all. The nVidia Shield takes care of my media client needs in the living room, and I have a NAS setup with an old Q6600 I had lying around. And the truth is that gaming will always be better on the PC - if you can afford it.

Re: QOTW: Are you tempted to switch from PC to console gaming?

Nope. The core of my gaming is strategy, and there are way too many good strategy games on PC, but not on consoles, for it to make sense switching.

I play on both. Mainly PC but some games on PS4.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.

Re: QOTW: Are you tempted to switch from PC to console gaming?

Pretty much made the switch to console (currently PS4 Pro) 10 years ago. I spend all day fixing other peoples PCs, Macs and servers. When I get home, I want to sit on the sofa and 'shoot aliens' to de-stress, rather than spend a few more hours chasing drivers, updates and software clashes.

To be fair I end up building a 'game ready' PC about every 5 years or so but invariably the game it ends up being used for is hobbyist hardware and software development.

Re: QOTW: Are you tempted to switch from PC to console gaming?

I would never have considered a switch to console from PC but this time around I feel GPU hardware is now so overpriced for any kind of tangible performance gain I'm simply not prepared to pay Nvidia's ludicrous margins and retailer supply shortages (to control price) to satisfy its shareholders. If you want to game at 1080p ok sure there are plenty of sensible options around, but having owned and use for work a 4k monitor for almost 5yrs now and wanting to play around with VR it really irks me that we are being denied decent graphics horsepower for a sensible price. As far as I'm concerned there has been no real terms gains for over 4yrs that doesnt come with a crazy price attached.
