What I find pretty encouraging is that I can play Division 2 (ie fairly recent release) on my i7 3950K, 16 GB ram and 750ti with no noticeable lag or terrible FX.
Much as I'd like the FX to be shinier, my game-crazy teenage sons think it looks the business. They play Warframe, WOT, Apex Legends etc.
No need (yet) for 2080s or anywhere in the foreseeable future.
