Last bios 8.4 seconds. Seems to take a while to get it's act together initially.
Last bios 8.4 seconds. Seems to take a while to get it's act together initially.
Windows: From a restart to the desktop about 25 seconds. From boot logo to desktop about 6 seconds with icons loading in taskbar.
Linux distro Manjaro KDE: 2 minutes. 1 minute to load the mouse icon and another to actually get to the desktop. Give or take several more seconds to load the real desktop and not just a cool wallpaper.

71 secs, and that is with a NVMe in the PCIe slot
way too long old computer and live in nz so internet connection is that great either even with fibre:-(as
my bios seems to take an age to kick in (8-10 secs) but once it gets past that it's ready in about 5 seconds.
Maybe the externals. I'm running 2 SSDs and 2 mechanical HDDs, plus a plethora of peripheral cards and get a last BIOS time of 7.7 seconds. Manually timed button press to windows is about 20 seconds.
Edit: OK stopwatch is so un-Hexus Launch event viewer, navigate to
Event Viewer\Application and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\Diagnostics\Performance\Operational
And look for a 'Windows has started up' Event 100 warning. It gives a boot duration time in ms, and in the details tab breaks down the components with fine granularity (kernel, driver, devices, profile etc.)
Event 101s in the same folder list things like which applications take longer than usual to start up. So I can see that my AV is causing 7 seconds of my loading time, though I suspect it's probably loading in the background so I don't notice. And I'm happy to have AV cause a bit of a delay.

And to go further down the rabbit hole, there is an excellent sysinternals app to control autoruns if you want more control than the start-up tab:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...loads/autoruns
20s to desktop, 37s till all the tray icons finish popping up
24 seconds from power switch pressed to desktop That includes a password.

Last Bios time 15.0s. Probably about 30-40 seconds once I've put my password in and it's loaded everything (being pedantic about it).
my win10 machine takes longer to post than to boot windows. Wish I could improve the post time!
OK So I use three different computers. 1 x very low powered Linux Laptop. 1 x Mid powered Windows 7 HTPC & My main PC which is a high powered Hackintosh.
Linux Laptop 20sec boot up
Hackintosh 90sec boot up (Slow due to boot loader)
Win7 HTPC reports about 60sec but it actually takes a good 5 minutes before its ready to use.
Task manager says Last bios time 7.1 seconds, which is probs about right
17s according to Task Manager. I guess this might include time I spent entering password too.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Approx 6sec from power button to Windows Hello logging to desktop. Last Bios time 2.6s. 18sec if I leave the external hard drive connected.
