QOTW: How long does your PC take to boot?

A Medion that I bought from Aldi in 2004. It ran good at the time but in the process of buying parts to start a whole new system. I have ram, and fans so far so have a long way to go.

I am sure you will get there in the end, MANY years ago when I couldn't afford much I ended up building my PC week by week, took a while but got there eventually

I thought I had taken a big step forward in buying parts in January when I managed to order a x570 Godlike MB for £250 but the company selling them didn't send it out and didn't respond. So this I'm binding my time again for a bargain.

Try to buy from Amazon if you can. As if you need to return anything its generally the best company for returns

My pc used to boot within seconds. After a few windows updates, something’s gone wrong. It’ll load, but have to wait extra couple seconds for the login page

It takes about 30 seconds to boot my systems; or less.

A LOT more than it should... My old AMD-FX PC with a salvaged SSD from a free laptop my government used to give kids booted faster than my new Ryzen machine with an actual SSD with modern chip technology, I really don't know why, I tried everything from updating BIOS to reinstalling windows and I just gave up on it... Really only rarelly bothers me when I need, for some reason to restart my PC, because I usually just turn it on right after waking up and I really mean right after waking up, it's the first thing I do after opening my eyes in the morning, then I'm off to take a bath, eat something, brush my teeth or whatever when I come back it's obviously booted into Windows just waiting for my password.

Also check USB settings... some devices hanging off the USB bus will cause a long delay

completely ignoring the method you want us to use and looking in Task manager on the startup tab. it says Last BIOS Time 45.1 Seconds.
which is a long time. longer than the 30 ish it took on Phenom 2 computer.

I'm using an FX based APU... A10-7870k. My Last BIOS time was 8.8 seconds... I've noticed that my severely underpowered pc starts up significantly faster than a R5 3600 build I did for a friend. Is this because I have very little hardware to go through BIOS?

And 25s all together to desktop.

Quicker than I expected for a cold boot. I'm currently using a budget i3 Lenovo 330S laptop (I'm in lockdown away from home and my main PC) and booting from a ~50% full 512GB Sabrent Rocket NMVe SSD.

30.5 seconds. Of which the first 12 or so is waiting for the BIOS screen to appear, and the next 13 or so is waiting for the BIOS; only the last 5 seconds is the actual Windows start-up. And that's going by the metric prescribed; it's maybe another 10 seconds after the desktop appears for things like the anti-virus and AMD graphics driver to finish initializing, and thus to have full responsiveness.

It always seemed pretty fast for me, but I'm not surprised that there are quite a few quicker ones. This is on a 2500K with an 850 Evo (SATA), five additional SATA drives for the BIOS to enumerate, and it's running in actual BIOS mode, none of this fancy newfangled EFI stuff. Now that I am running an EFI-compatible OS (8.1), I probably could switch that on and see drastically quicker boot times. But most of the time I leave it up running World Community Grid, so I rarely actually reboot, the extra time makes it easier to enter the BIOS when I need that, and 30 seconds is still a lot quicker than making a cup of tea. Can't really complain.

I leave my PC on 24/7. I only shut it down when I go away, so with the lockdown it only reboots for a Windows update.

And the BIOS time in Task Manager is 11.3 seconds.
