Been on Hexus half my life, 15 years! Thanks for everything, for growing my passion for PC hardware and gaming. Looking forward to the next site! (probably will have to check back here for the URL?)

Ahh. Will miss the place. Thanks for all you've done Dave
Well, fook me! This has come as a surprise. All the best folks with whatever you decide to do.
I've been coming here for a LONNNNNNGGGG time!
Is it not possible to tag the forums on the new website? Shame.

I'll be closing my account here. Was fun. Bye
Very sad to hear this. HEXUS has played a huge role in my life. From meeting some of my closest 'real-life' friends on here, to have the community support me when we lost a popular poster (and personal friend) many years ago.
I've also lost count of the number of times HEXUS has come up in discussions when at conferences and trade shows.
I was an Admin on here for.....goodness, I can't even remember how long. Must have been over a decade? From Dak and Chuckskull dragging me into EVE Online (Which I'm now work on), to Zak offering some incredible life advice that I rarely had anyone else to give to me....To more nights out with Tiggerai than I can possibly remember....Its impact on my life has been immense.
Strangely enough, I've never actually met you David. One day Thanks for all the hard work over the years. I often saw firsthand how much effort went in behind the scenes, and I know keeping a place like this running isn't easy.
Possible? I can't see why not.
Good idea? It may be that Tarinder & Parm want to start afresh, or even use diffeent forum software. Though I was never involved in the coding side of the forum, I understand the code to have been quite heavily modified, in part to integrate with the publishing side. That may also give them pause for thought. Or tacking it on may be exactly what ends up happening.
I'm just glad it's staying around, however it happens. I have a lot of friends on here.

Aww, I enjoy reading Hexus daily. Hope your next endeavour is as rewarding :-)
Please can the new forum have:
- a fully working dark mode
- a more reasonable PM limit
- an easier way to store/embed images in an arranged pattern and sensible size
- face-palm and poo smilies
Please can it keep
- smilies
- thanks
- user avatars
- the easy way to see updated threads and new posts/todays posts
- the easy way to access subscribed threads.
some other sites really make a mess of the above by comparison to Hexus.

Could be. I don't have any idea of how Tarinder and Parm want to play it. I just hope the community here survives. It's the people here, and the sense that (most of the time) this is a friendly and well-mannered place to chat, not to mention having some very well-informed members.

It was closed as soon as I registered, why

As long as the new site doesn't become The Verge or Engadget. Both owned by greed filled companies and articles with obvious agendas. Speak out about something, using sensible words, then get banned.
Good luck!
I wish I could agree how possible it was. Unfortunately the forum database is full of user accounts, IP addresses, emails etc that are all personal data. Assuming the new site is a new legal entity they'd need to contact all users and tell them the forums will move to the control of that entity on day X and provide a facility to close and delete their accounts before that date to legally move the data (GDPR and all that.)
Can be done but adds a hurdle and possibly a lot of short term work for the mods/admins helping facilitate deletion requests.
It was great for all these years, hope everythings works out right for the new project
Wow. I wasn't expecting this.
THANK YOU for your many years of "service".
I've no idea what goes into running and maintaining a site like Hexus, and to say this was an unexpected bolt out of the blue is a bit of an understatement.
I'd love to think that you're moving on to bigger and better things, and I will properly read your note later when I get home from work, but I suspect Hexus has just grown into something that has taken over your life.
So gutted to see the site go - it's been one of the pinnacles of factual content for so long - there will be a real gap on my firefox toolbar where the shortcut has lived for so many years.
Good luck with the future, and as a great man once said
"So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish"
