    Sony Ericsson unveils autumn handsets

Three new handsets, two for the youngsters and one for their parents.
The Z520's display is a richer 65,535-colour, 128 x 160, 1.8in unit, and its spec is in keeping with the "fashion-conscious" audience Sony Ericsson is targeting. No surprise, then, that it's a clamshell handset, pressed in shiny white iPod-like plastic, though with a range of snap-on pastel-coloured covers for iPod Mini users.

Aaarrrgh. Stop chucking tons of crap into phones and making them huge. I need to replace my Nokia 6100, and can't find anything decent enough to replace it with.

People need to realise these are Mid-Range (one low range) phones. They are not SE's high-end phones. Nvidia doesn't only produce 6900 FX3 SLI PCI-X2 cards (or what ever is in these days) because not everyone wants or needs the absolute high end. I think bringing a compact 3G phone and a mid-range phone that has 1.3meg camera (previously only a high end feature) is pretty cool. Compared to SEs current offerings the ageing T610 and fiddly ugly K500i these are a good improvement. I just hope the J210's OS is based on the T610 not the slow T68i OS.

i think once again both nokia and se are missing the boat in what's actually required of a phone... great reception (i.e. better antenna), battery life (let's see if we can make a phone that can do the quoted 6 hours talk time at maximum xmit power!) decent sync capabilities to desktop, pim and pda (and while we're at it - let's have a checksum field on the contacts to see what's changed - not that the phone's clock is out of sync, and that it might be fun to duplicate everything) and how about secured e-mail protocols for those of us who know how to use them

Don't need/want a camera. Got an Ixus 40 for camera duty.
