I'd hack it to pieces (software-wise at least) do display all sorts of cool stuff.
How much do you think they will be?
I could stretch to £150, but I would probably end up using it when I am at a lan party.

hmm maybe get one if £150 when comes out as that way i know i will find it for under that online.. but io think it is being targeted at consumers.. that is certainly what the butons on the left with itunes and emule ect would suggest in the preview shots..
AMD3000+ ATIX800XL + GBNF44x mobo.. all at stock because they're good enough atm + CA A1 amp-->Mission 73S Loigtech MX1000 + 1GB ram + 1/3 TB HD array
Wintendo XP + Linux (when it works) .. just incase you were wondering
Gimme, gimme, gimme
dinovo (with mouse) was £200 and people bought it.
that keyboard... sheesh. I reckon will be around the £300-£350 mark. And I would probably pay that for one :/ Any higher and they are pricing it above even hardcore gamers budgets. Still, would like to see it for £100-£200.

I think it is a concept more than anything.
I think it won't come out.
I doubt it actually exists in working forms.
definitely. but that doesn't mean it's not a cool concept.Originally Posted by David

agreed, i think the concept is sound, thoughI doubt it actually exists in working forms.
I do like the design, and think they could be on to something, but I do wonder if it would be robust enough if put into production.
If it was picked up by say, Logitech, I dare say we wouldn't see it for a couple of years anyway in retail form, judging from some of the other concept to retail designs in their portfolio.
I still want one (in black) though

Wow.
Concept maybe, but something like that *will* go into production at some point in the future.
let's look at the three main possibilities for production.
option 1, Cherry Corp.
Cherry make a lot of ugly home-user keyboards (albeit with penguins on), but they're also a fairly big player in the POS market - keyboard-like devices for tills. Something like this could easily be made into a VERY desirable POS terminal, if the tech were licensed. If the POS variants sold well, it would trickly down into consumer lines eventually (and Cherry have a fair degree of slightly eccentric designs, such as a solar-powered self-recharging wireless keyboard, or biometric keyboard). timescale? 9 months for the POS terminal, a further 9 months for consumer variants. cost? probably the cheapest, £100-£150, but expect to see tacky plastic replace shiny aluminium, along with decreased resolution. also on the bright side, expect to see a hacker-friendly API for doing crazy stuff with the keyboard, under any OS.
option 2, logitech
as i've said, something like this would easily fit into logitech's dinovo or ultrax product lines, without too much fuss. however, logitech aren't affraid of charging a lot of money for high-end kit (e.g. their speakers). expect a keyboard/mouse bundle (with something similarly freaky done to the mouse) in 12-15 months, for £250-£400. also expect some very bloated software to control the thing on windows xp 32bit only
option 3, someone else
i don't expect microsoft to take an interest in this, and probably not apple either. by "someone else" i mean "someone really unexpected, like those EluminX people". this could go one of two ways. an ultra-tacky version of the concept, with poor software, for £200ish, or an absolute work of art, the original design to a tee, for over £500
this is all speculation, of course, but i'll be interested to see how it goes.
Saw this on HardOCP I wouldn't mind seeing one in the flesh but it all depends if they get the patents for it. Its like a Z-Board but you can change the buttons yourself
