Is this really a kentsfield at 3.7GHz as I heard? Makes sense I guess.
What doesn't make as much sense is that this is a G71 (a single one?!).
Basically what I'm saying is, does anyone know what hardware was this running on?

Well I dont know for sure, but Falcon Northwest, dont mess about, I would imagine it's 2 7900GTX's or a 2 7950GX2's.

loved the car/truck falling down just in front of him at the end of the tornado. Reminds me of the first time i saw the bf2 videos. Guess ill skip the duel cores and go straight to quads

Dont bother, just wait five years and go straight to 80 cores

    Kentsfield Disapoints.

Not interested in this type of Quad core made by Intel. It will be overpriced & not worth its performance vs. price.

It seems that they slapped two Core 2 Duos on a package. So, where is the innovation in that? Benchmarks are not good enough considering that this double dual core is a quad-core. People we are in trouble if this is the future of CPUs.

Just like they were in trouble when intel did it for the first dual core processors?

Come on, it's a widely recognised first step as it's far more cost efficient than designing a native quad chip all in one. AMD didn't have to go that route for the X2, but signs are they're not doing all that dissimilar for the 4x4 architecture prior to barcelona.

The only reason you see 4x4 sitting in two sockets is AMD couldn't manage 250w in a single socket.
If they had appropriate cores they could easily put two dies onto a single package, hanging it off a HT link, but you can't cope with that kind of heat output in that area.

anyone heard of the die shaped CPU? I read about a couple of years ago in New Scientist but not since, something about 'neuronal type' criss cross circuitry a couple of centimetres sized ?

About what Nick said on having a core dedicated to rendering physics, that would consume much more memory (system) bandwidth than having a seperate Physx card, let's put their perfomance aside for a sec .

If modern games are to be developed like the one in the Demo, 4GB or RAM minimum may become the new standard, imagining playing such a game while doing other applications in the background as well.

And I agree on Kentsfield being NOT a big leap forward of Conroe, current games don't even utilise all Conroe resources, having another 2 cores won't help much, at least not linearly.

Who cares whether its innovative or not?
The only things that really matter are price, performance and power usage.
I wouldn't care if intel decided to re release the 486, slapped 4 of them on a package, clocked it up to 20 GHz and called it a quad core superduperwhizzbang. I'd still buy it is it was well priced, fast and doesn't use too much power (comapred to what else is available)

great, but my socket on my motherboard is am2. so i think i'll wait for the amd quad core cpu then.

i got to save some money for next gen cpu. I just saw a part of the video.
It' great, which it couldn't be played or made by single core cpu.

Stunning, the AF on there was deep too, and the twister at the end, all the items being sucked in and up, then the stuff coming back down again, truly amazing..

THe video was very low quality, that same clip in high quality wouldnt have shown any tearing i doubt.
