The only way piracy/downloading will stop is if it is made socially unacceptable, ie make people not want to do it. If people start getting banged up for it, it will go back to the old school network of dodgy CD's then they will never have a chance. I buy my games, I play mmorpg's almost exclusively, I listen to the radio. I have an ipod, and the songs on it are either legal, or legal-ish. I have the originals on vinyl or cd, obviously the former won't convert to mp3 as easily... (fortunately being an old git means my music taste has pretty much settled down and i'm not a fan of 99% of new music) I do watch TV, but because of that I do sometimes download missed episodes of xxx. I have no idea how that stands from a legal perspective, probably badly, but how is it different to remembering to set my humax (pvr) to record the show then watching it later? or using the onboard usb to transfer to my PC to watch later? or even video recorders? how long are we allowed to keep things we've recorded ???
/sigh
Everything is getting way to complicated, too political, the entire culture is going down the pan, it needs someone with balls/sense whatever to get in power - everything is far too pc these days, and it wasn't pc enough 25 years ago. Compromise is called for.
